After a ten-month recruitment process, I’m pleased to announce that CRRA has hired John Dane as our Executive Director as of October 1, 2013. (See John's professional profile at his LinkedIn page)
John has 25 year of experience in non-profit and association operations and management, including five years as the Executive Director of the 22,000 members California State Firefighters’ Association and another five years as the Executive Director of the United States Rowing Association, an Olympic team and membership organization. John has also served in diverse roles with accountabilities including membership/sponsorship development, government affairs and advocacy, strategic planning, business alliances and partnerships, PAC fundraising and leadership, budgeting and finance, events and seminars, and foundation management.
John earned a Master of Science in Urban Affairs and Public Policy at Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University. He is a Certified Association Executive (CAE), awarded by the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE), and is active in the California Society of Association Executives.
Perhaps as important as his impressive credentials, John has an abiding enthusiasm for nonprofit organizations.
John is honored to have been selected and has eagerly started, learning about our organization and various programs. While he may not have the opportunity to meet each of you until the 38th Annual Conference and Tradeshow in San Jose in August, 2014, John will be reaching out to a number of members, sponsors and friends of CRRA in the coming weeks and months.
John joins the CRRA staff with Patty Morgan, who continues on as CRRA Conference and Administrative Services Manager. CRRA members may continue to contact Patty at email@example.com. John may be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We received an overwhelming response to the job opening and feel fortunate to have had such a rich pool of applicants. Many thanks to the search committee, consisting of Ric Anthony, Susan Collins, Rob Hilton, Julie Muir, and Peter Slote, for their diligent work and efforts in this process. Thanks also to Bob Hollis of The Mobius Network for providing executive recruitment services.
The CRRA Board of Directors is unanimous in our confidence that John’s experience, commitment and enthusiasm are a great match for the work, members, staff and friends of CRRA; and together we will continue to advance our mission and vision. Please join us in welcoming John to our association.
